Book Explorer
The new Book Explorer gives you more information and better control when working with your content. The Explorer provides fast and easy access to all pages, objects and backgrounds simplifying the way you work with your content. In the Explorer view, you can quickly edit, move, delete, copy and perform numerous authoring activities.
The Book explorer can be easily customized to show you just the information you want.
SmartPages™ and SmartStyles™
SmartPages and SmartStyles make it even easier for authors and Subject Matter Experts to develop a course and ensure that all courses meet the same instructional design goals. SmartPages provide over a dozen interactive page types for you to choose from. SmartStyles offer the flexibility to quickly change the entire look and feel of a course with the click of a mouse. Both are based on CSS and XML and can be customized to meet your specific project needs.
With SmartPages, you get all the course page types found most often in professional elearning courses, with interactivity and functionality already built-in. ToolBook’s Page catalog category contains over a dozen SmartPages. Just select one for your course and fill in the appropriate information.
SmartStyles gives you the professional look you want for your course. SmartStyles are specially crafted packages of formatting that apply many attributes at once, defining your course’s overall style and layout. You can even build your own custom SmartPages and SmartStyles to ensure all your content meets your instructional design standards.
We built SmartPages and SmartStyles to be customizable. Based on CSS and XML, you can create additional SmartPages and SmartStyles to meet your specific needs and share with team members.
32-bit Version Authoring. Microsoft Vista Support.
This new 32-bit version of ToolBook reduces complexity for authors and IT professionals deploying ToolBook. The Windows native deployment option can now be targeted to more operating systems. Includes enhanced support for long filenames enable more options.
Extended Assessments
ToolBook’s strong assessment support has been further expanded. With this release, you can now easily see the total number of questions, and their types, in a course. Question randomization can easily be turned on or off, and the number of randomization questions can be quickly adjusted. The enhanced Quiz Summary feature provides useful statistics on the quiz, and allows the course author to generate a text file that contains question by question details.
Advanced Go To Feature
With the enhanced Go To feature, you can quickly navigate to any page or background by entering the page number, page by name or background by name, or page by ID number or background ID number.
User Interface Enhancements
With the new facelift ,the upgraded icons and file open/save dialogs are now more familiar to you.
Robust Product Installation
A more robust ToolBook installation solution reduces complexity for IT professionals deploying ToolBook authoring to their authoring community. Remote installs and quick component updates are now more easily performed.
Enhanced Web Browser Support
ToolBook now includes support for Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7. Netscape, FireFox, and Mozilla browser are still supported.
Access features over the Web
SumTotal ToolBook Support customers can access product extensions– new product features that extend ToolBook beyond what is provided in the shipping product - developed by SumTotal senior support engineers. These extensions are accessed from the Web using the LiveXtension feature.
LiveXtensions process:
- Select ToolBook’s LiveXtensions menu.
- View list of ToolBook authoring extensions accessed from SumTotal’s web site.
- Select and run desired extension you want to use.
